IF you have a poetic message, you must act quickly and be brief. Tonight you can get two minutes at the microphone in Frankston library in a heat of the 2009 Australian Poetry Slam.
Budding poets can speak, sing, whisper, scream or find any other way to deliver their original poem in two minutes with the audience acting as judge and jury.
Frankston's winner will go on to compete in the Victorian final at the State Library of Victoria in November. The national final at Sydney Opera House has a $5000 cash prize.
Registrations for Frankston's heat open at 6pm, with performances starting at 6.30pm. Details: 97841020 or www.frankston.vic.gov.au/library.
