LANGWARRIN'S start in the MPCA District cricket season has gone from bad to worse after losing its second game in a row.
And to pour salt in the wound, the Kangas lost three players to injury against Rye on Saturday, including star opening bat Simon McEvoy and coach Lindsay Campbell.
Langwarrin just couldn't contain the Rye batsmen, especially Steven Gale, who took to the bowlers, smashing 98, and Andrew Hitchener, who hit 53.
The Demons scored at more than five an over to be all out in the final over for 209.
Teenager Benny Johnson made his senior debut and impressed with 2-34, and Damien Wust netted 3-34 from his 10 overs. Jamie Jewiss was also solid with three wickets.
When it came time to bat, the Kangas were cautious and lacked aggression.
Simon McEvoy injured his calf and despite batting the full 40 overs, used a runner and scored just 57. Ben Wells was solid with 31 and Aaron Baleisis played the best knock with an unbeaten 36.

Balnarring won the toss and batted, Brent Murdoch top-scoring with 48 and Chris Murphy helping himself to 47.
Justin Grant was the best of the Mounties bowlers with 4-23 from eight overs, and Lyle House snared 2-32 from 10. Wickets tumbled quickly for the Mounties, openers Damien Kent and Keith Burdett out cheaply and the first five wickets falling for just 26.
The Mounties were all out for 127, Andrew Watson scoring 34 and House at the end crafting 36 not out.
Nick Henry was the star with the ball for Balnarring with 3-10 from eight overs, and Brodie Hilet was back and claimed 3-37. Brent Jones also claimed a couple of wickets.
Tony Horvat made a return to Boneo and helped the side to victory with an unbeaten 30.
Boneo chased down Main Ridges' 9-124 with nine overs to spare.
Leigh Janssen was the best of the Boneo bowlers with 4-46 and Ryan Jellie and Chris Jobling snared two wickets each.
Chris Barker was clearly the best of the Ridge bats with 34.
Ryan Jellie then did the job with the bat, opening with 21. Cameron Williams blasted 41 and Horvat contributed 30 to get the side over the line.
Main Ridge used seven bowlers, five of whom picked up a wicket.
Carrum secured the maximum 20 points by claiming an outright victory against Red Hill.
The Hillmen were rolled for 44 last week and Carrum responded with 111, which was nothing to get excited about.
However, Red Hill managed only 71 in their second dig, Daniel Graves the pick of the bowlers with 3-9 from 14 overs.
The Lions needed just one over to pick up the half a dozen runs needed for victory, three of which came from wides and byes.
Delacombe Park got the job done against Pines, scoring 141 in 40 overs and then bowling out the Piners for 98.
Jamie Guthrie opened with 26 for the Parkers, and Rowan Charles and Varun Singh made 25 each.
Brett Remy was the best of the Pines bowlers with 3-30 from 10 overs and Brad Saunders claimed 3-36 in his first game back. Travis Pastuska picked up 2-8.
Bruce Sutton top-scored for Pines with 29 and Remy contributed 27, however, he ran out of partners and was left unbeaten at the crease.
Shane Deal scooped 3-25 for the Parkers and Dean Blight snared 3-23 after taking seven wickets in the seconds in round one.
Seaford rolled Hastings on Saturday by five wickets.
The Blues were dismissed for 116, Faisal Payenda taking 4-21 and Mike Manders helping himself to two wickets.
Al Kristenson was clearly the best of the Blues bats with 35.
Chris Cleef then took charge for Seaford with the bat, finishing not out on 45, while Payenda backed up his good work with the ball by opening with 22. Isuru Dias was the best of the Hastings bowlers with two wickets.
